Hair Family Hair Cuts

One of the ways that we are able to cut the cost in our big family is by letting mom (Tami) do our haircuts!

We actually started this savings practice even before we had kids.

When I (Todd) was growing up my mother Ruby would always cut my hair. When Tami and I began dating she would come over and watch my mom give me haircuts. Over time, Tami felt confident to try it herself.

So, after we got married Tami took over cutting my hair. And I mean right after we got married! Two days into our honeymoon Tami cut my hair on a balcony overlooking the beach in Clearwater Florida. It was a beautiful setting for us to share such an intimate moment. Although, I feel bad for whomever may have been trying to enjoy their dinner or cocktails on the balconies below us.

Tami has been my stylist ever since. Of course, when the children came along she sharpened her skills as a hair dresser and learned to cut hair in new ways and many styles.

At this point mom is confident giving cuts to both girls and boys and can pretty much honor any legitimate style request!

The average cost of a haircut is anywhere from $20 – $40. If you times that by the 16 of us at 1 cut every month that’s a savings of $3,840 on the low end or well over $6,000 on the higher end. Any way you cut it, (pun intended) mom is saving us a ton of money (not to mention how she is saving time & gas money and the stress of setting and getting to all of those appointments).

So, hats off to mom! (See what I did there)

While Tami is my hair stylist, the kids and I have always been on my own when it comes to having a beard or other style of facial hair – except for the time I let the kids try their hand at beard trimming! Here’s a video for your enjoyment from our YouTube channel…
